Digital Lifelines for Traditional Thai Houses
Traditional Thai houses, built with local knowledge and materials like wood and ceramics, are vanishing in the face of modern development. These structures, designed to thrive in tropical climates, exemplify architectural ingenuity and cultural significance.
To safeguard their legacy, my peers and I did the measurement of the Thai Traditional House and created detailed 3D models using SketchUp to digitally preserve their design and structural knowledge. This technology allowed me to capture the intricate essence of these spaces while generating lasting documentation for future generations. By combining heritage and advanced tools, I explored ways to sustain cultural traditions in a rapidly changing world.

Crafting the Future with Traditional Wisdom
Studying Thai architecture taught me to look back in order to innovate. My peers and I conducted meticulous fieldwork at heritage sites, measuring and documenting structures to deepen our understanding of their design principles.
Inspired by these lessons, I integrated traditional knowledge into my architectural designs, blending old wisdom with modern tools. Using laser cutting and 3D printing, I crafted models that embodied this synthesis, showcasing how technology can breathe new life into traditional practices.

The Craft Behind Thai Architecture
The artistry in Thai architecture goes beyond the physical structure—it lies in the hands of skilled artisans. I had the privilege of learning traditional techniques, such as crafting Kra Jok Kreab, a decorative element found in Thai temples. This process required patience and precision, offering me a firsthand appreciation of the labor and skill involved.
To honor the craftsmen who continue this legacy, I documented their work on a Thai temple, a national treasure enriched by their mastery. This experience reinforced my admiration for traditional craftsmanship while shaping my belief in balancing artisanal with technological advancements in design.
